Using a Remote Control Repeater

The newest flat screen LED or LCD televisions with or without HDTV capability have totally changed the way that room are laid out for viewing the TV. With large CRT televisions the cabinets had to be very deep, from front to back, and consequently this inspired a bulky entertainment center with plenty of room for DVD players and other accessories. Now with these flat TVs, they can be mounted right onto the wall, like a big painting, but then there is no entertainment center to house the amplifiers, DVD players and so on. What typically happens is these items are put into a closet or built into the wall and are accessible from the rear, from a separate room, in most cases. The result is a very clean and elegant with no clutter and mess.

Ah, but a new problem pops up. The remote control receiver on the DVD player or some other equipment is now hidden from view, and the infrared remote control signals from the remote are unable to penetrate the barrier that separates the room from the item to be controlled. So how can you manage to control the DVD without having to place it outside of the hidden case or closet? Necessity is the mother of invention. The IR Injector will solve your problem. This is a simple device that is able to receive the IR signals near the TV, which naturally will never be hidden, and relay or send them to the DVD player or whatever else is intended, located in the hidden cabinet. The DVD or other equipment of course has to connect to the TV for audio and video, so there will be a cable already connected between the TV and the equipment in the cabinet. The IR Injector uses the existing cable and it connects to a new IR receiver on the TV end and an IR transmitter on the other end near the DVD or other equipment to be controlled. Your cable just relays or retransmits the IR signals that it receives from your handheld remote control and sends them over the cable to the DVD pr other equipment, making use of the generally unused CEC channel in the HDMI cable to send the signal to the IR retransmitter. Installation is incredibly simple and can be completed in only a few minutes time. Optionally you can opt to order cables for non-standard lengths. This is a simple solution that solves a problem that arises when people wish to mount the flat TV to the wall and place all other equipment in an alternative secluded spot.
